Today we released part one of our interview with luthier Gregg Alf on June 29.  After training at the Cremona Violinmaking School, he founded Alf Studios, where his work has won highest honors at numerous international competitions and exhibitions.

Gregg has built instruments for some of the most distinguished violinists and violists of our time, and in 2013 one of his violins sold at auction for $132,000—then, a world record price for living violin makers.

Today we released part one of our interview with Polish percussionist, Marianna Bednarska. She’s a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician and teacher.  

Among her many accolades, she’s performed throughout Europe and the US, and has appeared as a soloist at the Lucerne Festival, the Davos Festival and with ensembles such as the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Polish Radio Orchestra 

In addition to her professional experiences, Marianna has won prizes in over two dozen music competitions, including the Geneva International Music Competition, the Swiss Young Soloists, and she was a finalist in the Polish Eurovision Young Musician of the Year in 2009.

Prior to founding Salyers Percussion, Bruce enjoyed a wide variety of experiences as a musician: he was a middle and high school band director,  a percussion instructor at Harding College and had a successful private teaching studio. As a performer he’s played with ensembles such as the Arkansas Symphony and Pine Bluff Orchestras, and has published music compositions.

Today we released part one of our interview with Vera Holczer-Waroquet. She’s a Hungarian pianist who came to the US after finishing her degree at Budapest’s Bartok High School Conservatory.  She studied music at UCLA and went to graduate school at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Upon graduation, she started a small teaching studio that quickly grew into the Aurora School of Music that trains over 1,000 students per week and hosts numerous events she hosts each year.

This week on the podcast is part two of our interview with Nashville-based drummer, percussionist, producer, and educator, Jordan Perlson. He’s a busy musician who's performed with well-known artists such as Gary Burton, David Liebman and Snarky Puppy. He’s been on over 100 recordings, and has composed music for national ad campaigns for companies such as Netflix, Powerade, and Nissan. 

Jordan is also an Adjunct Professor at Middle Tennessee State University, and his books have been translated into several languages. Anyone with an interest in a portfolio career will benefit from Jordan’s insight on a variety of topics such as self-employment, planning for retirement, and more!
